What is Colon Hydrotherapy?  

Colon Hydrotherapy, also referred to as colon cleansing, a colonic, or colonic irrigation, is a procedure in which large amounts of water are flushed through the colon to assist in detoxification, boost energy levels, relieve abdominal pain, and support the immune system.  

What to expect during a session?  

Each session will last 45 minutes on the Angel of Water colon cleanse machine, but please expect to be here for about 1 hour. Make sure to drink plenty of water and avoid eating for 2 hours before your arrival!  

When you arrive for your appointment, we will review the new client form you completed online and discuss your goals with colon hydrotherapy. I will then show you the colon hydrotherapy room. You'll receive a gown to change into privately from the waist down and will position yourself comfortably on the Angel of Water colon hydrotherapy machine. You will gently and easily insert a lubricated rectal tube in privacy, no more than 2-3 inches. The colonics tube is the size of a pencil, individually packaged, sterile, for single use, and will be properly disposed of after the session.  

I will then enter the room to ensure that the water flow is adequate and entering your body correctly. The water will trickle in gently, and you can stop it at any time. This 'gravity-fed' system means the rate at which it enters your body is solely regulated by gravity, making it safer and gentler compared to other colon hydrotherapy machines. The water is filtered through a carbon filter and ultraviolet purification system, which removes any sediment, rust, or chlorine before entering your body. Warm filtered water hydrates, soaks, and loosens waste in the colon, allowing feces to release naturally. An odor exhaust system ensures that the session room remains odor-free.  

Who Can Benefit from Colon Hydrotherapy?

Is Colon Hydrotherapy Safe?  

Being a natural and gentle process, there is virtually no danger associated with a colonic treatment. A trained specialist will always accompany the treatment. Some initial discomfort may arise due to pressure and occasional cramping of the intestinal muscles, but this is kept to a minimum and typically resolves once you adjust to the process. Many patients report a very pleasant experience after an initial adjustment phase.  

Do Colonics Wash Out Valuable Intestinal Flora and Nutrients?  

The essential bowel bacteria are located on the bowel wall and are not removed during colonic irrigation treatment, thus preserving a large nucleus for natural growth. Healthy microbiota can thrive only in a balanced environment. Additionally, valuable nutrients may be better absorbed in a clean environment than in a putrefied one.  

Is Colon Hydrotherapy Painful?  

You may experience slight discomfort only in the case of an impacted colon, with some cramping possibly occurring as the colon contracts to expel waste. However, once the major impaction is removed, you will likely find the session to be pleasant and relaxing. It's important to drink lots of water before a session to avoid discomfort!  

What kind of diet should I follow immediately after a Colon Hydrotherapy session?  

After your colon hydrotherapy session, it is essential to:  

- Drink plenty of liquids (purified water, juices, herbal teas, and electrolyte drinks).  

- Avoid eating raw vegetables immediately after the treatment. Steamed vegetables and raw fruits are acceptable (to be chewed very thoroughly).  

- Reduce meat consumption (especially beef, pork, and chicken), as well as alcohol, caffeine, and sugar intake.
